Collectively we make the impossible possible.Recognised for delivering projects of global and national significance that help keep Australia safe, it is our shared passion that shapes our culture, and our people that make it a great place to work.About the OPPORTUNITY –We have an excellent opportunity for a Senior Naval Architect / Engineering Change Officer – Hull and Structures to join our Maritime team working on the Hobart Class, reporting to the Engineering Manager and Platform Engineering Manager.This role is preferably based in Garden Island, NSW however, applications outside of NSW will be considered.The Engineering Change Officer – Hull and Structure undertakes and leads complex activities related to the Naval Architecture discipline, such as managing a portfolio of changes for; hull and propeller hydrodynamics, power and resistance prediction, weight monitoring, stability analysis, manoeuvring and seakeeping analysis, docking and undocking calculations.This role will involve strong foundational knowledge/experience in naval architecture or marine structural engineering as this role will have Design Acceptance Representative (DAR), and you will also need strong project management skills to coordinate between various stakeholder’s relevant design changes for your approval.The Capability Lifecyle Manager (CLCM) program works with Defence, Australian Navy, and Defence Industry partners to deliver project management services sustaining the Royal Australian Navy’ Hobart Class Guided Missile Destroyers (DDG) into the next future.This role will see you:Act as an integrated member of the team and provide technical and project management leadership and oversight within your sub-domainDevelop a thorough understanding of both ship and shore systems within your sub-domainDesign and develop solutions, resolve engineering issues and problems for a range of situations relating to specialist knowledge area(s)Attend/Conduct project meetings, design reviews and peer reviews as requiredEnsure that all documents and artefacts are completed, reviewed and managed and within appropriate standard procedures and the defined work instructionsContribute to the project controls (schedule and budget development and tracking) and project management of Engineering Change activities within your sub-domainWe embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight.About YOUNaval Architecture, Structural Architecture or Marine Engineering degree qualified is essentialDemonstrated experience working as a naval architect with experience managing projects and peopleDemonstrated experience undertaking the design review and oversight activities throughout the engineering processThe ability to communicate and operate effectively within a dynamic, challenging environment with conflicting prioritise and managing multiple stakeholdersThe ability to be proactive and manage multiple projects at any given timeA passion in maritime and a keen interest in developing vessels for defence.
