About The Role
Reporting to the Data Engineer Leader, the Senior Data Engineer will work closely with the Data Product team to support, design, build, and deploy data solutions to enable effective and efficient value realization from EnergyAustralia’s data. As a senior member of the Data Engineering team, this role involves leading discipline efforts, primarily focusing on data ingestion and integration within the AWS analytics ecosystem. Additional responsibilities include:
Leverage the function’s patterns for appropriate ETL/data import and interfacing mechanisms such as consumption layer databases, APIs, and caches
Support and develop data products and platforms
Design data solution architectures, support data platform and product delivery, including some out-of-hours support for business-critical data products
Review business requirements, create data mappings, perform data profiling, query design, and data flow design
Apply DevSecOps principles using CI/CD workflows to accelerate infrastructure and data pipeline development
Qualifications and Skills
You should have strong engineering experience, exposure to Agile or DevOps environments, and some of the following competencies:
Relevant tertiary qualifications or extensive practical experience in computer science, IT, or business systems
Experience building data engineering pipelines and working with cloud data platforms
Hands-on experience with AWS tools such as S3, EMR/EC2, Lambda, Redshift, with relevant certifications
Experience with data modeling tools like DBT, AWS Glue, or similar ETL frameworks
Proficiency with streaming technologies such as Kafka/Kinesis and Spark Streaming with Python or Scala
Experience with orchestration services like Apache Airflow
Strong skills in SQL, Java, Python, R, PySpark
Ability to establish and maintain logical and physical data models
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
