We are a compounding-only pharmacy of sterile and non-sterile preparations serving patients predominantly in NSW, QLD and VIC. The majority of scripts are sent to the pharmacy rather than being bought in by patients. A pharmacy assistant role in this scenario therefore requires that customer service is primarily provided via phone and email. Some local patients do attend the pharmacy, therefore good interpersonal skills are required.
The role involves speaking by phone and corresponding by email with patients and prescribers and their practice managers; interacting with patients who do attend the pharmacy; quoting; processing prescriptions, orders and payments; liaising with our pharmacists and laboratory staff; filing; and some order packing and generation of shipping documents. On business days, hours of work are 9am to 5pm Monday to Thursday and 9am to 3pm Friday. You should be personable and organised with good attention to detail and verbal and written communication skills, be able to work well in a team, and you do not mind the pressure of a busy work environment. You will have good computer skills and be able to learn to use pharmacy dispensing software.
