Kimberley Mineral Sands Pty Ltd (KMS) is a 50/50 joint venture between Sheffield Resources Limited and YGH Australia Investment Pty Ltd (Yansteel). The Thunderbird Mineral Sands Operation (Thunderbird) is located mid-way between Derby and Broome, in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. Thunderbird is one of the largest and highest-grade zircon mineral sands deposits in the world and contains valuable heavy minerals including ilmenite, zircon and leucoxene, which are extracted and exported via the Port of Broome.

About the Role
Reporting to the Superintendent Metallurgy, The Plant Metallurgist will lead the delivery of production performance and continuous improvement initiatives across the processing plant. This role ensures daily production targets are achieved, reported accurately, and that opportunities for efficiency and recovery improvements are identified and implemented.
Location & Roster Options
We have a strong preference for the preferred candidate to reside in the West Kimberley region, with relocation and living allowances provided. However for the right candidate, FIFO from Perth will be considered.
West Kimberley Resident Roster: 8 days on, 6 off (Bus in, Bus out from Broome)
Perth Resident Roster: 8 days on, 6 off (Fly in, Fly out)
Key Responsibilities
* Support metallurgical performance across the processing plant, ensuring optimal recovery and product quality.
* Design, update, and verify operating parameters and metallurgical models.
* Drive continuous improvement through plant surveys, data analysis, and root-cause investigations.
* Support production forecasting and end-of-month metallurgical accounting.
* Champion safety initiatives, including radiation and dust control.
* Collaborate with operations to adjust plant configurations and achieve recovery targets.
About You
* Degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or similar.
* Minimum 2 to 3 years' experience in mineral processing
* Hands‐on experience with physical separation techniques: wet gravity, magnetic separation, hydro‐cyclones, screening, flocculation, and pumping systems.
