About the team
The Preschool and Early Childhood Services (PECS) Directorate lead and operate a significant suite of government early childhood services and programs for which the Department for Education is the approved provider under the Education and Early Childhood Regulation and Standards Act.
The Early Childhood Programs unit supports the department's delivery of a range of early childhood education and care programs and services, including Learning Together Communities playgroups, rural care and support for integrated sites, particularly Children's Centres for Early Childhood Development and Parenting including sector engagement.
Learning Together Communities (LTC) provides a network of supported and community playgroups and parent education services for families with children aged birth to five years, aiming to increase children's early literacy, numeracy, development and engagement with learning by supporting families as their children's first teachers.
About the role
Learning Together Communities is a multi-layered network of supported and community playgroups and parent education services for families with children aged from birth to five years, underpinned by a common evidence-informed approach and tailored to meet the needs of local communities. It is based on the Learning Together program's principles and approach, with the overarching aim to engage families in their children's learning to improve outcomes for the children.
The Learning Together Educator will be responsible for planning and facilitating supported playgroups (including outreach/mobile playgroups), providing 1:1 mentoring to community playgroup facilitators (on department and community sites) and supported transition services (as appropriate) based on community need.
Qualifications
Essential:
* Must have, or be actively working towards, an approved Certificate III level Early Childhood Education and Care, Children's Services or Education Support qualification or other post-secondary qualifications in childcare, education, behavioural science or social work studies
* Current approved first aid qualification, anaphylaxis and emergency management training (refer to the ACECQA website for lists of approved qualifications)
* Knowledge of child protection legislation and responsibilities
Desirable:
* Diploma in Children's Services, Education and Care
* Knowledge of National Quality Framework
Special conditions
The successful applicant is required to gain a Department for Human Services (DHS) Working with Children check (WWCC) prior to being employed, which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry.
The incumbent will be required to undertake RRHAN–EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education Care) Facilitator Lead (Masterclass) extended course or the online (Fundamentals) course, which will be required to be updated every three years.

Remuneration
ECW2: $71,338.00 – 78,592.00 per annum (1.0 FTE), + superannuation (12%)
