A well established Australian business operating nationally in engineered industrial storage and warehouse solutions is seeking an experienced Head of Design & Estimating to lead a critical function across design accuracy, estimating integrity, systems improvement and technical team performance. With an established footprint across Australia and NZ, delivering tailored storage, racking, shelving and warehouse solutions for commercial and industrial clients.
This is a senior leadership appointment for someone who can take full ownership of how design and estimating is delivered across the business, ensuring outputs are commercially accurate, buildable, scalable, and aligned to real-world installation. Working closely with senior leadership, you will lead a team across design, CAD/BIM and estimating while introducing stronger governance, accountability and process discipline across the full project lifecycle.
You will be responsible for:
* Leading and signing off all design and estimating outputs before release
* Introducing structured checking, validation and approval processes
* Driving practical design outcomes that work seamlessly on site
* Improving estimating accuracy, BOM integrity and commercial risk awareness
* Leading CAD/BIM system advancement and automation initiatives
* Standardising design frameworks while managing custom project requirements
* Building capability, accountability and technical maturity within the team
* Improving handover quality across sales, design, estimating and delivery
We are seeking a technically strong leader who combines commercial judgement with practical delivery understanding. You may come from sectors such as warehouse storage systems, industrial design / engineering, modular construction, manufacturing, technical fit-out, structural product environments or specialist construction systems.
Ideal experience includes:
* Proven leadership of design, engineering or estimating teams
* Strong understanding of constructability and installation realities
* Experience implementing systems, process discipline and technical standards
* Commercial awareness around cost, margin and risk
* Exposure to CAD/BIM platforms such as Revit or similar highly regarded
* Ability to challenge legacy behaviours and drive measurable improvement
