**Our client, a long-term government contractor is seeking a permanent Purchasing officer to be based in their office in inner south suburb of Canberra.**

**Key Responsibilities**:
- Recommend and obtain agreement to the optimum approach to market for the supply (including using corporate agreements).
- Obtaining quotes, releasing request for tender, evaluating offers and assessing the market's capacity to supply.
- Initiate and support supply chain due diligence activities.
- Request and support supplier on-boarding to the supplier list.
- Support supplier engagement activities, including negotiations and supplier performance management (where appropriate).
- Manage compliance with procurement process and ensure all required approvals are in place prior to purchase order release.
- Release purchase orders, ensuring they are complete and accurate prior to release, including clear definition of requirements, cost, schedule, and quality.
- Support confirmation of receipt and payment of suppliers.
- Throughout the procurement process:
- Address issues and any changes required.
- Identify, analyse and mitigate risks.
- Act as the point of contact to the supplier.
- Maintain records of all stages of the procurement.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Ensure integrity and ethics are maintained.
- Ensure appropriate management of sensitive data
**About you**:
- Proven previous experience in purchasing / procurement.
- Equivalent experience to, or, a Certificate III in Supply Chain (Procurement, Material Logistics), Contracting, Business, Commerce, Law, or Finance would be advantageous.
- Broad commercial acumen, in particular in sourcing, quotations, orders, supplier engagement and delivery management.
- Computer literacy including the use of enterprise reporting systems, Windows operating system, and the Microsoft Office suite of programs.
