Inspired by our commitment to innovation and resident-centred dining, we are seeking a skilled and passionate Catering Assistant to join our team and help redefine the aged care dining experience.
The Role
In this role you will report directly to the Head Chef and play an essential part in our collaborative catering team, ensuring smooth and efficient operations at our St Peters site. As an experienced Catering Assistant/kitchen hand, you will work as a member of our wider kitchen team on a casual basis. You will be responsible for maintaining a high standard of catering and presentation whilst handling, preparing and storing food, in addition to associated cleaning tasks. You will demonstrate knowledge of and compliance with food safety standards.
What You'll Do And Be Responsible For
* Assist with basic food preparation under the direction of the Chef or Cook
* Support meal plating and service to ensure timely delivery to residents
* Maintain a clean, hygienic, and organised kitchen environment
* Operate commercial kitchen equipment safely
* Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment
* Follow food safety, infection control, and agedcare standards
* Work collaboratively with the catering team to ensure smooth daily operations
What You'll Need To Succeed
* A minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar role.
* Ability to work efficiently in a fastpaced environment
* Strong teamwork and communication skills
* Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively within a collaborative team environment.
* Understanding of safe food handling practices
* Previous experience in a commercial kitchen or aged care setting (preferred but not essential)
