Project Engineer - Capital Projects – CSR Limited
Project Engineer – Coopers Plains
At CSR, we're building a better future together.
We are a team of 2,600 people across Australia and New Zealand, collaborating every day towards a shared purpose – 'Building solutions for a better future'. As a leading Australian manufacturing business, we are at the forefront of developing innovative, sustainable, and high‑performing building products and systems.
At CSR, we put people first. We are committed to creating a safe, respectful, supportive, and inclusive working environment that enables everyone to feel valued, grow, and truly thrive. We provide equal opportunity for everyone and welcome people of all backgrounds, identities, experiences, abilities, and life stages.
The Opportunity
CSR is undertaking one of the most significant brownfield upgrades in our Gyprock network – a large construction and plant modernisation program at our Coopers Plains site. This is a live, fully operational manufacturing facility, and the work is highly intrusive: a new tower, large‑scale plant and equipment installation, civil works, and a new DC/warehouse. It is a complex, multi‑year transformation with commissioning running from August next year and warehouse/site works running into early 2027.
We're looking for a Project Engineer who can keep this moving – someone mechanically minded, steady under pressure, and comfortable working at the coalface with vendors, builders, and site teams.
Key Responsibilities
* Safety & Standards: Lead WHSE compliance and embed safe practices across all vendor and mechanical workstreams.
* Vendor & Mechanical Installation: Coordinate vendors, oversee mechanical installation and commissioning, resolve technical issues, and maintain alignment with the construction program.
* Construction & Contractor Coordination: Align daily work‑fronts, trades, and schedules with mechanical requirements to keep construction and vendor activities integrated and moving.
* Design, Documentation & Quality: Support design reviews, resolve mechanical design issues, and manage accurate as‑built documentation through to handover.
* Project Controls: Monitor schedule, cost, and deliverables across vendors and subcontractors, providing clear reporting and holding timelines on track.
About You
You're safety‑led, organised, practical, and thorough. You speak plainly, keep commitments, and hold others to theirs. You are solutions‑driven and operate well in environments where the plan changes but the standard can't. You value precision, preparation, coordination – and you don't shy away from getting on the floor, checking the detail, and making sure things are built right.
We're Looking For Someone With
* Degree‑qualified in Mechanical Engineering (or similar).
* Solid project experience installing large, complex machinery or delivering factory/plant upgrades.
* Strong people and contractor management capability.
* Experience in industrial, manufacturing, or continuous process environments.
* AutoCAD familiarity is a bonus, not essential.
* Proven analytical and problem‑solving strengths (Lean/Six Sigma/Value Stream Mapping/KT highly regarded).
* Sound commercial judgement and ability to weigh technical decisions against cost and schedule.
What's In It For You
We strive to support your professional and personal growth. Here are some of the perks you'll enjoy as part of the CSR team:
* Supportive and collaborative culture that fosters innovation and inclusion.
* Care and wellbeing offer includes up to 14 weeks of paid parental leave, 52 weeks of superannuation payment, and access to an employee assistance program.
* Rewarding career with on‑the‑job learning, development, and upskilling opportunities within and across our brands.
