PAT Legal is an incorporated entity of the Police Association of Tasmania which provides legal services to members of the Police Association of Tasmania only.
Areas of practice include crime, workers compensation, industrial and employment law.
About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Legal Executive Assistant to join our team in New Town, Tasmania.
This role will support our small team of solicitors who specialise in a broad range of practices including crime, workers compensation, industrial and employment law.
Duties of this role will include:
Undertake a wide range of legal focused clerical and administrative work including file management, opening, closing and archiving files, e-filing correspondence and documents, the preparation and compiling of court and other legal documents.
Undertake word processing, transcribing of audio material, preparation of correspondence and document production of a highly confidential nature.
Undertake data entry including the updating and maintenance of the legal practice database, and utilise the database tools for preparation of documentation.
Provide a high-quality standard of client service, both in person and by telephone, whilst ensuring the sensitive and confidential handling of enquiries, including attending to member enquiries, liaising with complainants and witnesses, the legal profession, courts and the police administration.
Undertake diary and travel management including booking appointments.
Undertake quarterly billing and prepare monthly reports for the PAT Executive.
Undertake time recording entries and management of file grant limits and grant extension applications.
Preparation of briefs to external firms and/or solicitors as maybe required.
Provide support to other areas within the Police Association of Tasmania as required.
About You
This role will suit a candidate with the following:
Applicants must hold permanent residency in Australia
Demonstrated experience working in the legal profession.
Previous experience in personal injury, criminal law and/or employment law highly regarded but not essential.
Experience using precedent, billing and file management programs.
Enthusiastic and proactive approach to work.
Ability to build strong internal relationships.
Highly organised with a strong attention to detail.
You use initiative and think on your feet, while working in a fast-paced environment.
You are highly motivated to achieve the best outcomes, while also maintaining strong attention to detail.
You have excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate with people from a diverse range of backgrounds.

The role is full time, however candidates who are part time are encouraged to apply as job-sharing may be considered.
