Role
Description
Reporting to the Medical Director, the Health Protection Manager is responsible for the planning, delivery and review of LMPHU’s operational response to communicable disease, environmental health and other incident/emergency public health threats in the Loddon Mallee region. It is expected that the Health Protection Manager will also work closely with the Prevention and Population Health team to identify opportunities for prevention interventions to reduce the risk of these threats.
The Health Protection Manager will model the values of Bendigo Health through effective leadership, management and governance of the LMPHU health protection team. They will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high quality, responsive and evidence-based leadership that meets professional, organisational, legal and ethical standards in order to optimise health outcomes for the community. The Health Protection Manager is responsible for fostering a positive culture, driving change, and maintaining a safe working environment within a cycle of continuous service improvement.
The Health Protection Manager works closely with other senior staff from Bendigo Health, the Department of Health, other Local Public Health Units and external agencies as part of a state-wide public health network.
This role participates in an on-call roster for receipt of urgent notifications.

The Team
The Community and Public Health Services Division has a primary focus on improving the health outcomes of the communities in our region. With a range of local and regional programs supporting place-based health promotion, prevention, care and support, they work collaboratively with other Divisions and regional partnerships and networks to support quality outcomes. The Division has a strong leadership role in the Loddon Mallee Region and is committed to ensuring processes are in place to deliver on our Division.
