Job Description:
The Principal Mechanical Engineer is responsible for providing and leading consultancy services, engineering services, technical input and direction in design to assist with the development and execution of growth strategies that will lead to the growth of new energy and resources business within ANZ and globally.
This role will focus on leading the technical aspects in support of the pursuit and delivery of key opportunities within the new energy and resources sector. The engineer will be required to develop and lead the DEM (discrete element method) capability and provide technical oversight and input into the main Mechanical Engineering group.
* Familiarity with bulk materials projects at ports, mines, quarries etc. from study through to detailed analysis & design, commissioning and troubleshooting.
* Experience with various aspects of the planning, design and commissioning processes, construction methods and interface requirements of multi-disciplinary projects.
Key Responsibilities:
1. To lead a multidisciplinary team in the delivery of mechanically complex projects
2. To develop and implement workflows to effectively leverage DEM as a design tool during the development and optimisation of transfers to add significant value to the design for our clients
3. To continuously innovate approaches to optimise chutes, impact plates and constructability of transfer stations and stackers
4. To publish and/or present case studies on transfer chute simulation with DEM and DEM calibration at conferences and thought leadership events
Requirements:
* A relevant Tertiary Engineering Degree (Professional Registration CPEng highly regarded)
* Demonstrated professional experience predominantly within the Mining resources sector coupled with the proven experience in Bulks Materials and DEM Analysis
* Delivered small to large projects, including complex green and brownfields projects, along with overseeing and/or contributing to multidisciplinary teams, and providing critical mechanical and materials handling input from preliminary study phase through to project completion and handover
* Familiar with the delivery methodology including initiation, development and delivery-phases, the specific requirements and levels of accuracy as well as design maturity required at each delivery gate for resources clients
