News Corp Australia is offering an exciting opportunity for a reporter role in Gippsland. The ideal candidate will be based in Morwell, Traralgon or Moe, and will drive their own ideas for engaging digital content while advocating for regional Australia and the local community.
Responsibilities
Identify and develop stories across a range of topics including crime, court, local government, development, education and human interest that are relevant and engaging for the local community and produce engaging, accurate, and clean copy.
Build genuine connections across the community.
Lead and inspire digital content through story development of the highest quality.
Harness the many storytelling tools that digital has to offer to drive engagement with stories (interactives, video, graphics).
Use data analytics to find new trends and track what content is performing online, and use that information to deliver stories that inspire, inform and engage the community.
Use best practice on social media to sell stories, drive subscription growth for the digital masthead and increase traffic to the website.
Qualifications
Previous writing and newsroom experience is advantageous.
Ideally you already have a network from the local community and are currently living or prepared to live in a regional centre.
Fantastic interviewing skills and a natural curiosity that drives you to discover the stories that will make an impact.
Detail-oriented with excellent spelling and grammar.
SEO and social media experience is an advantage.
Passionate about advocating and being the voice of the local community.
