We are tackling the climate crisis while ensuring that people have the tools they need to deal with our warming world.
Heating, cooling, and refrigeration technologies are critical to modern life but use nearly 40% of all energy generated today, release potent greenhouse gas refrigerants to the atmosphere, and are too expensive to be adopted worldwide. This needs to change, and fast, so we're working to improve refrigeration (and air conditioning and heat pumps) through materials science.
We're a group of materials scientists and engineers based in Cambridge, looking to transform the 150 year old HVACR industry and lead a transition to solid refrigerants. These new materials can unlock a massive efficiency boost over conventional systems, saving our customers money while reducing electrical load and eliminating refrigerant emissions.
If you want to geek out about refrigeration with us, make a dent in the climate crisis, or take on an entrenched multibillion dollar industry, please apply.
About the Role
We need to quickly find the right paths forward for our early stage technology development. This often means doing experiments and building prototypes to assess the viability of a potential solution. This experimentation leads to design concepts which then need to be systematically validated.
We're seeking an experienced test engineer who can work in both of these modes. This role will be primarily responsible for developing our testing suite and ensuring we learn what we want to know.
* Collaborate with our materials scientists and engineers to design experimental equipment and develop test procedures
* Execute exploratory experiments and debug rapidly built prototypes
* Plan and execute structured experiments to determine compliance with design targets
* Analyze test data using advanced statistics and data processing techniques
* Develop long-term test campaigns and distill out the generated knowledge
* Report and discuss recent results and long-term learnings with the technical team
Key Responsibilities
You should have experience in product validation and certification test programs, as well as a proven track record of experimentation in a materials science/chemistry environment.
Familiarity with various data acquisition and controls platforms, including industrial PLCs, laboratory oriented systems, precision gas handling equipment, heat exchangers, fluid state and flow measurements, and controls is required.
Essential traits for succeeding at our organization include being comfortable working on open-ended problems, working with rapidly-changing goals and priorities, and having a hunger to learn and solve problems in a new technology field.
What We Offer
We offer a competitive salary range of $110,000-$130,000 and a generous benefits package to support your career growth and well-being.
