The Garden Maintenance Coach supports young people facing barriers to employment by delivering hands-on, work-based learning experiences. The role combines vocational and life skill development with positive role modelling to build participants’ confidence and prepare them for long-term success in training or employment. The position also aims to deliver high-quality landscaping maintenance services for internal and external clients under the guidance and direction of the Team Leader.

Your Role:
* Provide tailored coaching that builds participants’ capabilities, confidence and motivation.
* Supervise participants in daily work activities, using positive reinforcement to encourage learning and development.
* Identify individual needs and coordinate appropriate support, referrals, or adjustments as required.
* Model professional conduct and promote strong work habits, customer service, and respectful workplace behaviours.
* Strong project management to ensure quality outcomes for stakeholders, meeting contractual obligations, outcome requirements, and production targets on time
* Coordinate and oversee garden maintenance, and property maintenance tasks to a high standard.
* Plan and manage daily operations to ensure efficiency, safety and alignment with program outcomes.
* Ensure tools and equipment are maintained, used safely, and stored securely.
* Support the delivery of services to meet project timelines and any contractual or reporting requirements.
* Accurately record participant progress and program activities using approved systems and tools.
* Complete timely and professional reports for internal and external stakeholders as required.
* Adhere to all organisational policies, legislative requirements, and WHS procedures.
* Promote a positive safety culture and ensure active compliance with relevant regulations.
Selection Criteria:
* Demonstrated commitment to the vision, purpose and values of Loreto Community Housing, including a respectful understanding of its identity as a Catholic organisation and its broader social mission within the Archdiocese of Hobart.
* A recognised industry or trade qualification in garden maintenance and/or landscaping (e.g., horticulture, construction) with at least 3 years of project experience, or 5+ years of relevant experience without a qualification
* Proven experience coaching and mentoring young people – particularly those with complex needs – using a strengths-based or growth mindset approach.
* Knowledge of the local labour market and the ability to teach young people the skills and behaviours needed for lasting employment (e.g., workplace conduct, technical skills, quality workmanship).
* Demonstrated experience in producing high quality work in line with the relevant contract and service requirements.
* Proficiency in using a range of technologies and platforms to effectively perform role tasks and ensure compliance with requirements.
* Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally, to suit different audiences and contexts
* Demonstrated knowledge of current Workplace Health and Safety requirements.
