Located in the gorgeous beachside township of Wollongong, Millers' Local Bakehouse has fast become an institution for our coastal community. We are committed to using local, seasonal ingredients, without preservatives and additives.

We bake at a central warehouse and distribute to two retail locations, pop up bakeries and wholesale customers between Port Kembla and Helensburgh.

We are looking for someone who's not only passionate about baking, but also loves leading others in a supportive and nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

* Prepare a range of menu items whilst providing exceptional attention to detail
* Work alongside operations and management staff to maintain Millers' supportive, inclusive and nurturing workplace culture
* Oversee and provide guidance to a tight knit team. Mentor junior staff and help them grow their skills
* Supervise and train apprentices
* Ensure consistent product quality and adherence to health and safety standards - HACCP, hygiene practices and WH&S
* Manage stock rotation, monitor ingredient levels and reduce wastage via effective control procedures
* Identify areas for improvement and proactively provide feedback to the broader team

What we're looking for:

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a positive, team-first attitude
* Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage a team in an encouraging and supportive environment
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines, adapt to competing demands and consistently achieve targets whilst maintaining product integrity
* Experience in establishing health and safety protocols, policies, and procedures related to food and workplace safety
* Self-motivated and autonomous work ethic
* Ability to provide and follow instructions

Requirements:

* Qualified pastry chef. Current Food Safety Supervisor certificate highly desirable but not immediately required
* Proven experience as a pastry chef at a senior level
* Australian working rights
