Achieve Something Great
Bowral Hospital is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Surgical Booking Officer to join our team in a full time permanent role. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a service that makes a real difference in the patient journey—from the moment they are added to the elective surgery waitlist through to the day of their procedure.
In this pivotal role, you’ll help ensure that patients receive timely, accurate, and compassionate support as they move through the booking and elective surgery process. You’ll be at the centre of coordinating theatre lists, managing waiting times, and providing essential information to clinicians, administrators, and patients. Your work will directly enhance patient experience and support Bowral Hospital’s commitment to safe, efficient, and high-quality care.
If you’re someone who thrives in a role where organisation, communication, and service excellence come together to create meaningful impact, this role offers a rewarding next step in your career.
Are You the Right Fit?
The ideal candidate is someone who brings strong customer service skills, a calm and organised approach, and a genuine commitment to supporting patients through their surgical journey. You’ll handle sensitive information with care, work well in a busy environment, and contribute positively to the team by helping refine processes, maintain accurate data, and uphold high standards of confidentiality and professionalism.
You should have experience in administrative roles—ideally within healthcare—along with confidence using hospital systems, managing bookings, and completing billing or insurance tasks. A solid understanding of elective surgery or waitlist processes is an advantage, as is familiarity with NSW Health policies. Most importantly, you’ll be someone who demonstrates the SWSLHD values, engages in ongoing learning, and plays an active role in delivering a smooth, supportive experience for patients and clinicians.
Selection Criteria
To help us assess your suitability for the role, please tell us as much as you can about yourself in response to the questions below.

2. Provide an example of a time you solved a complex booking or data issue in a busy environment. How did you use medical terminology, attention to detail, and sound judgement to resolve the matter while maintaining confidentiality and data integrity?
