Our client is an Australian family business 70 years in the making and whose products are in our pantry cupboards.
They are recognised for their commitment to environmental and sustainability initiatives and have recently won an award for such success. Not only are they known for their array of agricultural-based products but they're also applauded for their continuing commitment to local farmers and the greater agricultural community.
Due to continued growth, this is a newly created position and one that will support the ongoing coordination and development of their environment and sustainability plans; supporting policy, programs, systems and standards. This will include alignment to government, regulatory and legislative requirements, as well as contributing to a best practice culture, supporting the continuous improvement of this function across the site's business operations.
Providing the business with thought leadership on key areas of environmental focus including emissions targets, science-based targets, energy management, waste management, water and biodiversity etc., other key _responsibilities are: _
- Maintaining the site's Environmental Management System (EMS) certification in accordance with ISO 14001
- Managing the site EPA licence requirements
- Maintaining the sites Roundtable on Sustainable Biomaterials (RSB) certification
- Liaising with relevant regulatory authorities on environmental matters
- Liaising with other stakeholders such as the community, customers, and suppliers on environmental matters
- Providing advice and review of Development Applications (State Significant Developments)
- Supporting the business in the delivery of projects; environmental priorities and initiatives.
- Ensuring compliance with environmental licences/permits/approvals and legislation
- Continually monitoring environmental compliance, identifying areas of opportunities for improvement, and ensuring those improvements are implemented.
