The Role

We are seeking a Senior IoT Design Engineer to work in a hands-on, R&D-focused environment. You will design, build, and optimise Linux-based IoT devices, including secure firmware, custom kernels, and system integrations for next-generation hardware products. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex engineering problems, developing new technology from the ground up, and working across the full stack of embedded IoT systems.

Responsibilities

* Design and develop the Ubuntu Core 24 platform supporting scanner SNAP applications
* Implement security and encryption features including secure boot, encrypted storage, and TPM modules
* Build and optimise firmware across edge-device subsystems
* Design custom kernels and optimise operating system performance across drivers and hardware
* Manage deployment, upgrades, maintenance, and remote monitoring of devices
* Develop new functionalities for applications and interfaces between cloud services (AWS) and remote devices
* Build and maintain SNAP packages and Linux environments

You

You are a senior engineer with extensive Linux and IoT experience, capable of solving complex problems and building scalable systems. You are resilient, detail-oriented, solutions-focused, and thrive in a fast-moving, innovative engineering environment.

Required skills and experience:

* Significant experience with Ubuntu Linux, including building and upgrading systems
* Proficient in Java (JNA/JNI/FX) and C/C++
* Experience with embedded or IoT device development
* Strong experience in Linux environment software engineering and SNAP development
* Familiar with Ubuntu Exposure to OpenGL, experience optimising system performance and device integrations
