Senior Consultant, Power
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Consultant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the National Electricity Market (NEM) and a commercial advisory background.
The role involves leading or being a member of a 3-4 person team with responsibilities including:
* Providing advice on project commercialisation to renewables and storage developers, including optimal spot and contracted mix, pros and cons of alternative offtake structures, and interaction between offtake, project configuration, and project debt financing
* Providing advice to large energy users (e.g. retailers or C&I customers) on their power procurement needs, including the pros & cons of retail vs. wholesale offtake
* Running competitive processes to buy or sell offtake linked to renewables and/or storage projects. These c.4-month long processes have three key phases:
* (i) Soliciting indicative offtake buy / sell offers, and evaluating offers to proceed to best-and-final-offer (BAFO) stage
* (ii) Soliciting BAFOs, analysing results and managing the execution of binding offtake agreements
* Providing power sector expertise (NEM and/or WEM) into other projects and teams as required, including our commercial advisory business and other strategic advisory engagements
* Focusing on project delivery and execution
* Supporting business development as needed (e.g. proposal and pitch development), as directed by management, and
* Mentoring and coaching junior members of project teams (analysts and consultants)

Requirements
* 4-6 years' relevant experience in Australia's NEM, working with and for renewable and BESS project developers on project commercialisation
* Experience in Australia's Wholesale Electricity Market (WEM) is desired but not essential
* Understanding of the development lifecycle and the multi-disciplinary nature of this work will be highly regarded
* Experience in financial modelling will be highly advantageous
* Strong project delivery and project management skills
* Strong quantitative skills (MS Excel is sufficient, programming experience is welcome but not essential)
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
* Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) with diverse stakeholders, and strong interpersonal skills
* Prior experience in consulting / advisory is desired but not essential
