Behaviour Support Practitioner - Core or Proficient Level
Full-time
Job Status: Full Time
Welcome to Ability Action Australia!
We are one of the largest providers to the NDIS, supporting over 10,000 participants annually with the care they need, when and where it is needed. Our multidisciplinary team approach builds a quality support service tailored to the needs and goals of our participants and their families.
Help us help others by providing life-changing support that can improve independence, access, development, health, wellbeing, and function.
We are expanding our Behaviour Support team and seek experienced, dynamic Behaviour Support Practitioners eager to be part of a multidisciplinary team and make a difference. You will bring expertise, maturity, and strong organizational and time management skills.
Successful candidates will provide support to NDIS participants in areas including Tamworth, Watsons Creek, Upper Manilla, Gunnedah, Wallabadah, and surrounding areas, depending on your location.
This is a great opportunity to join a wider multidisciplinary team that supports each other's challenges and successes. No two days are the same! You might work in daycare centres, schools, homes, or on outreach trips to Gunnedah and nearby regions. We also host monthly Wellness Walks by the river — supporting our regional community!
You will support vulnerable community members by acting as an advocate and role model. Your daily responsibilities include:
Assisting NDIS participants, their families, and carers to identify needs through assessment and person-centred planning.
Developing and delivering evidence-based support plans within complex support environments.
Creating meaningful goals and practical strategies using a positive behaviour support framework, with a commitment to eliminate restrictive practices, in home and community settings.
Ensuring individual plans align with participants' goals, passions, and strengths.
Building the capacity and strengths of those supporting participants, including family, carers, and friends.
Collaborating within a multidisciplinary team, including mentoring less experienced Behaviour Support Practitioners.
We support you as you support many! Our offerings include:
Work flexibility – Choose from 24 hours a week to full-time, setting your own hours and days.
Excellent remuneration – Industry-leading salary, salary packaging, car allowance, laptop, smartphone, purchased leave, and bonus opportunities.
Work-life balance – Autonomy to set your schedule, combining remote work with support hubs.
Career development – Ongoing training aligned with your interests and long-term goals, professional development through Ability Action Australia and MedHealth.
CPD Support – Generous CPD allowance and paid days for professional development.
Positive culture – Join a purpose-driven team committed to your growth and making a difference.
To be considered, you should have:
Current suitability confirmed by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission at the Core or Proficient level as a Behaviour Support Practitioner.
Experience mentoring and supervising other Behaviour Support Practitioners.
Excellent time management and organizational skills for managing a varied caseload.
A proactive attitude, motivated by improvement and innovation.
A genuine passion for working in the disability sector.
