* Salary: $38 - $43 gross per hour plus 12% Super plus allowances
* Up to 38 hours per week / Monday to Sunday / as per roster
* Located at Shoalhaven Memorial Gardens & Lawn Cemetery, Worrigee

About The Role
Join our dedicated Bereavement Services team and help provide respectful, high-quality cemetery and cremation services for the Shoalhaven community. As a Cemetery Services Operator, you will play a vital role in maintaining our memorial grounds, assisting with burials and cremations, and ensuring a safe and dignified environment for families during sensitive times.
Duties
The cemetery services operator positions shall be rostered across the various duties at each cemetery and the crematorium to meet the operational needs of Bereavement Services:
* Burials, Interments or Immurements:
o Excavate and refill graves using plant, machines and/or hand tools
o Lower coffins into graves as per Burial Procedures
o Grave maintenance including management of subsidence
o Place memorial plaques and markers at graves
o Place ashes into walls and place plaques
o Attend interments into vaults and crypts
* Cremations:
o Ensure compliance with legislation, policies and procedures during each step of process.
o Operate high temperature furnaces
o Process the ashes or cremated human remains
* Grounds and buildings maintenance:
o Maintain cemetery grounds to required standard to ensure compliance with Cemetery licensing requirements
o Mow, whipper snip and otherwise ensure tidy presentation of lawns or grass in all grounds under care and control of Council's Bereavement Services Unit
o Perform gardening responsibilities including weeding, planting, pruning and other associated tasks using a variety of hand, powered, self-propelled and ride-on gardening equipment
o Carry out minor asset, building and infrastructure maintenance, repair and construction as requested
About You
To be successful in the position, you will have:
* MR Drivers Licence or willingness to obtain
* Demonstrated experience operating excavator and/or skid steer
* Current NSW WorkCover accredited First Aid Certificate
* Current NSW WorkCover Construction Induction Certificate (White Card)
* Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to WHS principles and practices
* Ability and willingness to undertake physical manual work
* Demonstrated effective time management and prioritisation skills with the ability to balance competing workloads and deliver within deadlines
* Proof of right to work in Australia
