About the Role
The Instrumental Music Tutor (Piano/Voice/Percussion) will provide high-quality instruction to students from beginner to advanced levels. The successful applicant will uphold the ethos of the School while fostering a love of music and supporting each student's skill development and personal growth.
This is a contractor position. Tutors invoice the School's Music Department for lessons delivered at an agreed hourly rate, with guaranteed superannuation. Teaching loads are determined by the Director of Instrumental Music and reviewed each term based on enrolments.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver quality music education aligned to the School's values and expectations
* Demonstrate and teach sound instrument technique and strong music literacy
* Manage and engage students effectively to maximise learning outcomes
* Maintain a positive, caring and disciplined learning environment
* Encourage enjoyment, growth and confidence in every lesson
* Support students in developing performance skills
* Prepare students for AMEB exams, Eisteddfods, and other performance opportunities
* Encourage participation in School ensembles and assist with repertoire preparation
* Maintain accurate attendance records and arrange make-up lessons where possible
* Communicate professionally with parents, staff and students
* Prepare and submit Instrumental Music reports each semester
* Assist with School concerts, events and the broader Instrumental Music Programme
* Actively promote and support the growth of the music programme
* Demonstrate strong organisational, self-management and collaborative skills
Skills & Experience
* High-level performance and technical skills
* Relevant qualifications or equivalent experience
* Experience teaching Instrumental Music to individuals and/or small groups
* Ability to deliver engaging, enjoyable and development-focused lessons
* Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
* Ability to collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders
* Performance skills on additional instruments (highly regarded)
* Enthusiastic, professional and committed approach to teaching music
