JOB SUMMARY

Atwell specializes in power generation and delivery services, including high‐voltage electrical systems, substations, switchyards, transmission lines, distribution design, overhead and underground collection systems, and renewable energy projects such as wind farms, PV/Solar farms and BESS facilities. The Electrical Engineer will lead design across the power sector, developing expertise in core responsibilities outlined below.

Essential Functions (What You'll Do)

* Lead HV power engineering design from kickoff to IFC across generation, transmission, distribution, and substations.
* Coordinate daily with substation physical, P&C, SCADA, civil, structural, transmission, distribution, studies, construction, procurement, and PM teams Cannot.
* Prepare and review design packages and technical documents: design criteria, drawings, reports, specs, BOMs, estimates, studies, commissioning/outage plans, scopes.
* Support proposals and change orders with technical scopes and level‐of‐effort estimates.
* Track scope, schedule, and budget with PM/Discipline Manager; deliver accurate, quality work.
* Perform occasional site visits, walk‐downs, and client meetings.
* Ensure compliance with NEC, NESC, NFPA, IEEE, ANSI, USDA and internal QA/QC.
* Conduct interdisciplinary reviews to align interfaces across all disciplines.

Interconnection

* Perform PSSE/PSCAD load flow & dynamic studies; tune/benchmark renewable models (WECC/GEN) and document results.
* Work within ISO/RTO processes (ERCOT, MISO, SPP; FERC pro‐forma); support LGIP/SGIP/DER impact studies, injection analyses, LMP/congestion reviews.

Electrical Studies

* Execute studies: load flow/reactive, short‐circuit, grounding, cable ampacity, energy loss, harmonics, protection coordination, arc flash, insulation coordination, induced voltages, TOV/TRV.
* Review utility interconnection studies for compliance with PPA/utility requirements; produce clear technical reports.
* Tools: ETAP, CYMCAP/WinIGS/CDEGS, SKM, PSSE/PSCAD/PSLF, CYME, PowerWorld.

EDUCATION

* Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET‐accredited).
* Engineer‐in‐Training (EIT) Certification desired for Level I‐III.
* Professional Engineer (PE) License desired for Level IV and above.

Pay Range – $100,000 – $180,000.
