About the role
We’re looking for a proactive and collaborative Learning and Development Coordinator to lead the transformation of our training approach across the business. This newly created role will play a pivotal part in centralising our learning systems and streamlining L&D processes to support a consistent and effective employee experience.
You will undertake a comprehensive Training Needs Assessment across regions and farms, considering operational differences and role-specific requirements. Engaging with stakeholders and subject matter experts, you’ll assess current programs and identify capability gaps to develop and implement a phased, practical Learning and Development Roadmap aligned to our business goals. Key responsibilities include upgrading training materials (such as work instructions and high-risk task videos), transitioning our learning platform from iLeader to a fit-for-purpose solution, and creating accessible, engaging resources that support a diverse workforce — including non-English speakers and those with LLN needs.
This is a foundational role at ProTen, giving you the opportunity to truly influence the way we learn and grow as a business. You’ll help us build an L&D function that supports onboarding, compliance, technical upskilling, leadership development, and a culture of continuous learning — setting us up for success now and into the future.
About ProTen
ProTen is Australia's largest corporate meat chicken grower, setting the standard in broiler farm operations and development. With over 720 poultry sheds across 62+ broiler farms strategically located in New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia, and Queensland, ProTen is at the forefront of the industry. Our farms have the capacity to produce over 174 million broiler chickens annually, contributing approximately 25% of Australia's total broiler chicken production.
At ProTen, we are driven by a simple but powerful mission - "We grow the chickens”. Our role is much more than just producing food—it's about contributing to the health and well-being of every Australian. We are dedicated to helping our customers ensure that all Australians have access to an affordable, sustainable, healthy, and complete diet.
This mission is something we take to heart, and it's why we are committed to caring for our people, our communities, our animals, and the land we work on. It’s not just what we do, it’s who we are. Which is underpinned by our core values of “Teamwork, Professional, Communication, Caring and Curious”.
About you
To succeed in this role, you’ll be an experienced Learning and Development professional with a practical, hands-on approach and a genuine passion for helping people grow. You’ll be confident working independently while also collaborating across different teams and levels of the business. Ideally, you bring experience in the poultry or agriculture sector, or a fast-paced operational environment such as manufacturing.
You’ll have demonstrated success in assessing learning needs, designing and delivering engaging training solutions, and supporting diverse learners - including those from non-English speaking backgrounds or with LLN needs. A Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is essential, and you’ll be confident developing content for both digital and face-to-face delivery, underpinned by adult learning principles.
Your strong interpersonal and communication skills help you build trusted relationships with stakeholders at all levels. You’re highly organised, capable of managing multiple priorities, and able to produce accurate, insightful reports using data to inform your decisions. You bring initiative, sound judgement, and problem-solving skills; along with the resilience and flexibility to adapt to changing business needs. You’re also tech-savvy, with strong administrative skills and you bring experience reviewing, recommending, and implementing Learning Management Systems or other business-wide platforms — and ideally have worked with nationally recognised training programs or compliance frameworks. Above all, you’re self-motivated, professional, and committed to making a positive impact - with the integrity, energy, and work ethic to help shape the future of learning at ProTen.
The successful applicant must have the right to work in Australia and be physically capable of visiting our farms, including walking through both indoor and outdoor production environments. While the role is generally based in Griffith, NSW, occasional travel by car or plane to other regions will be required to support training delivery and stakeholder engagement across the business.
