Job Description

Griffith Law School contributes to the University's culture and achievements through its own commitment to social justice and through offering a curriculum that is practical, critical and global in outlook. Griffith Law School is home to internationally renowned scholars who are at the forefront of legal research and reform. Our legal research has been consistently recognised by the Australian Research Council as 'above world standard'.

In 2024, the discipline of law at Griffith University was ranked 37th in the world, and 2nd in Australia (2024 Academic Ranking of World Universities).

The Law School is seeking an experienced Senior Lecturer (Level C) to make significant contributions to high‐quality teaching and to play a major role in scholarship, research and/or professional activities, with a particular interest in those with experience teaching Priestley 11 subjects including Criminal Law and Evidence.

Key responsibilities include but not limited to:

* Foster an outstanding student experience and encourage active participation and engagement in learning and teaching across the spectrum of the University's undergraduate, postgraduate and professional program suite facilitating high quality, student‐centred learning activities consistent with Griffith Graduates of the Future strategy.
* Continuously improve teaching practice through professional development and critical reflection informed by a range of evaluation approaches.
* Inform the quality, innovation, currency and evidence‐base of teaching and learning through scholarly activities, commitments and outputs.
* Develop and implement evidence‐based strategies that facilitate improved student retention, employability and successful outcomes for students.
* Provide educational leadership to a discipline including responsibility for academic courses.
* Contribute to the advancement of knowledge through a balanced research portfolio of high‐quality outputs that demonstrate impact.
* Undertake high‐quality research that may have measurable impact on policy and practice in the wider community and attract and generate competitive research funding.
* Contribute to the enhancement of the School/Department and Group's standing and reputation by promoting the educational and research activities with external communities.

This is a continuing, full‐time position primarily based at Griffith University Brisbane South (Nathan). As Griffith is a multi‐site University you may be required to work across other locations. Griffith University's campuses are located on the lands of the Yugarabul, Yuggera, Jagera, Turrbal, Yugambeh and Kombumerri peoples.

Salary RangeThe full‐time base salary will be Academic Senior Lecturer (Level C) in the range $138,702 - $159,936 per annum, plus 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $162,281 - $187,125 per annum.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have a doctoral qualification or equivalent accreditation and standing.

You will also have:

* Demonstrated ability to deliver high‐quality teaching and to engage students effectively.
* Proven ability to develop and implement innovative curriculum and teaching materials.
* Demonstrated experience in providing academic support and mentoring to students.
* Commitment to ongoing professional development and engagement in scholarly activities relevant to teaching.
* Demonstrated ability to conduct and publish quality research.
* Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to interdisciplinary projects.
