As a skilled and motivated Electrical Automation Technicianpart of the Engi-O division, you'll work on specialised bag-in-box filling machinery and support packaging automation projects across Victoria and beyond as well as assist the wider HMPS Propac business where required.
You'll have exposure to the full lifecycle of automation builds – from electrical design and panel wiring to PLC programming and site commissioning – while also playing a key role in developing the next generation of electrical tradespeople.
Job Description
What you'll be doing:
Build and program smart automation machinery:
Design, wire, and program electrical systems for new machinery. Take ownership of machine integration, from workshop build through to final site commissioning.
Mentor the next generation:
Supervise and support two electrical apprentices, sharing your knowledge and helping develop best-practice electrical standards and documentation.
Solve problems in the field:
Support our customers with commissioning, diagnostics, and service – travelling locally and interstate when needed.
Collaborate with project and service teams:
Work closely with mechanical engineers, project leads and service techs to deliver high-quality machines that exceed customer expectations.
Champion safe and compliant electrical practices:
Maintain accurate documentation, ensure builds are WHS and standards compliant, and help refine our internal processes.
What you'll bring:
A-grade electrical licence and trade qualification
3–5 years' experience in industrial automation or packaging machinery
Confident reading and creating schematics (e.g., EPLAN or AutoCAD Electrical)
Strong troubleshooting skills and hands-on experience with wiring and panels
Team player with great communication skills
Willingness to travel for site commissioning and service support
Experience mentoring apprentices and/or working with filling/packaging systems is desirable
Exposure to safety system integration, compliance and/or ISO and WHS requirements inmachinery is desirable
