Are you passionate about food and making a meaningful impact in the lives of vulnerable young people? You can help create a positive, supportive environment by providing high-quality meals and kitchen services in our youth support facility as part of our dedicated kitchen team.
As a Cook, you will work closely with the Kitchen Supervisor to manage daily operations, prepare nutritious meals, and lead a small team to deliver outstanding food services for young people in our care, staff, and special reintegration activities.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare and serve a variety of nutritious meals for clients and staff.
* Contribute to a safe, hygienic, and welcoming kitchen environment.
* Maintain cleanliness and functionality of all kitchen equipment and workspaces.
* Assist in stock control, ordering, and inventory management.
* Supervise and support kitchenhands.
* Prepare morning teas, afternoon teas, and cater for internal functions.
About You
* You must have cookery experience in a commercial kitchen.
* Knowledge of safe food handling practices is essential.
* Certificate II in Hospitality (Kitchen Operations) or similar is required.
* You should possess strong communication and teamwork skills.
* You need to be able to work in a structured, safety-conscious environment.
* A current valid Blue Card or ability to obtain one is necessary.
* You must be able to pass a Criminal History Check, reference checks, and pre-employment screening including disclosure of serious disciplinary history.
* Proof of right to work in Australia citizenship, residency, or visa is also required.
