Policy Advisor (Level 1), Wellington – Casual Contract

National Office, Ministry of Justice.

Multiple positions available

Te Haeata/The Opportunity

We're looking for a number of casual advisors to undertake submissions analysis in Justice's National Office in Thorndon, Wellington for approximately four to six weeks, subject to the project demands. Successful casual advisors would ideally start work as soon as possible.

What will your role involve?

Submissions analysis is the process of reviewing and interpreting feedback and proposals received during consultation. It focuses on identifying the main themes, issues, and viewpoints so Government decision‑makers can understand public sentiment and assess the ideas put forward. Submissions need to be handled in accordance with the Privacy Act 1993.

Your role will be to extract, sort, and code key content from public submissions. You may also be required to assist with other policy-related tasks as required.

systematically identify key points from submissions that range widely in detail and complexity.
analyse and categorise information quickly, while maintaining high levels of accuracy.

And Who Have Experience In, Or Feel Confident

reading and categorising large volumes of qualitative data; and
presenting findings in a clear and concise written format.

Prior experience in submissions analysis and knowledge of submissions analysis is desirable, but not essential.

The hours of work will fall within the standard business day pm), and will vary from week to week, up to 40 hours per week. You will need to be flexible - there are no guaranteed hours as the scale of the work to be completed is yet to be determined.

Due to the nature of the work and tight timeframes, we are unable to accommodate remote work requests, and the work will need to be undertaken at the Ministry of Justice's National Office in Thorndon, Wellington.

Utu ā-tau/Salary

The appointing salary for this role will be between $67,066 to $85,567 pro rata, based on skills and experience.
