Salary:£84 - £110 per day(Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Daily Supply, Long-term
Are you passionate about supporting children with additional needs and confident in providing personal care and manual handling support?
If so, GSL Education are looking for a motivated SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join a welcoming school in Newcastle.
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with children who require additional support with their learning, personal care, and mobility. You will play a vital role in ensuring pupils feel safe, supported, and confident, enabling them to thrive both academically and personally.
Responsibilities:
- Provide individualised support to students with Special Educational Needs, including assistance with learning activities.
- Safely carry out personal care routines, ensuring dignity and respect at all times.
- Support pupils with mobility and physical needs using manual handling techniques and equipment.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and external professionals to create an inclusive learning environment.
- Encourage independence, resilience, and positive engagement in school life.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN, including personal care.
- Knowledge of safe manual handling practices (training provided if required).
- Compassion, patience, and a professional attitude when supporting students.
- Strong communication skills to work effectively with pupils, staff, and families.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students.
- Have anupdated CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and anenhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
