Role

The Property Officer is responsible for maintaining the prisoner property stores stock levels, safekeeping of prisoner's stored property, prisoner property requests, the prisoner's greens store and valuables register. This position is an integral role in the transfer of prisoner's personal items between prison locations.
The role will require the incumbent to liaise with prisoners directly and will involve some bending and lifting.
Some of your duties will incllude:
1. Updating records as required on acquisition / disposal / transfer of property. Ensure the safe and secure storage of all prisoner property including prisoner valuables.
2. Making recommendations pertaining to prisoner property and clothing issues.
3. Searching prisoner property. Ensure accuracy of property lists on reception, transfer, and discharge.
4. Managing and supervise a prison worker (PSW) and report on his progress.
About you:
To be successful in this role, you will have:
5. Clerical experience is highly advantageous. (preferably in Stores) and an ability to develop and maintain records and systems relating to these administrative functions.
6. Ability to undertake inquiries and stocktakes, maintain inventories, prepare reports, correspondence and statistical returns.
