As the Communications Manager Emergency Response you will lead innovative, high-quality and effective communications across DEECA's emergency management accountabilities, ensuring the department is ready to respond to Class 1 and Class 2 emergencies impacting the environment, agriculture, water and energy sectors.
This includes overseeing the preparedness, response and recovery communications activities for biosecurity and natural disaster events impacting agriculture.
You will coordinate and deliver early-response emergency communications and media strategies, activate and manage emergency recovery communications activities, and liaise with key emergency stakeholders across the department and Victorian Government.
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications Minimum ten years' experience spanning communications, media and marketing.Contemporary knowledge of strategic communications and media channels, processes and planning.A relevant tertiary degree or industry recognised qualification in communications or public relations (or similar) would be well regarded.Sound knowledge of and experience working in government is essential.Sound knowledge of and experience working in emergency preparedness, response and recovery is essential.This is a fixed term position available until 09 May 2026.
The work location for this position is 2 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne with flexibility within Victoria.
