Balanced Coordination Support Services (BALCOR) is seeking Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people to work as Remote Community Support Workers in remote Northern Territory communities. The Remote Community Support Worker supports people with disability to live with independence, dignity and purpose. This includes helping participants with daily living, supporting skill development, and encouraging connection to culture, family and community.
The role requires a strong understanding of community life, respectful communication, and a person-centred, culturally safe approach aligned with NDIS standards. Key duties include:
Responsibilities
* Providing culturally respectful, person-centred disability support
* Assisting with daily living tasks such as personal care, cooking, cleaning, shopping and transport
* Supporting community-based and cultural activities such as bush trips, fishing, arts, sport and community events
* Encouraging independence, confidence and social connection
* Supporting participants who are new to the community or returning from urban areas
* Communicating with families, Elders, coordinators and support staff
* Keeping accurate and confidential records
* Working within community values, relationships and protocols
