Overview
Labourer - Rural role at Careers at Council (Lithgow City Council). The prospect is to join the Rural Works Team in Lithgow, NSW, with a focus on general duties relevant to Council's operations, and opportunities for upskilling and ongoing development.
This role is multi-skilled with a wide variety of tasks. The Rural Labourer is responsible for performing general duties as directed by the Rural Works Coordinator and in accordance with work instructions.
Responsibilities
- Lay pipes and other related stormwater infrastructure
- Maintain/operate plant and equipment
- Produce concrete structures (e.g. footpaths, drives, retaining walls)
- Control traffic – including completing set-up procedures per Traffic Control Plans, maintaining traffic flow and reporting traffic problems
- Perform roadworks – set-up, construct and maintain roads
- Act in higher grade roles throughout the rural works team

About You
The successful applicant will meet the following criteria:
- Class C Driver's Licence
- Previous Labouring Experience
- WH&S; Induction for Construction Work (Whitecard)
- Traffic Control Tickets (Stop/Slow and Apply Traffic Control Plans)
- Demonstrated commitment to the principles of honesty and integrity
- Demonstrated commitment to and understanding of WHS
In addition, an ideal candidate would have concrete set-out, trades assistant and plant operation experience from previous roles and a current First Aid Certificate. Salary and Benefits
- Between $ to $1,104.43 per week dependent on skills, qualifications and previous experience
- Permanent, Full-time Position, 38 hours per week
