YAY Today is growing We're excited to be expanding into Queensland and are now welcoming Expressions of Interest for Support Workers in Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast.
At YAY Today, we believe great support starts with empathy, professionalism, and heart. We're looking for positive, reliable, and emotionally aware female Support Workers who are passionate about empowering people with disabilities to live independently, build confidence, and connect with their community.
This is a meaningful and dynamic role, sometimes within complex or challenging environments. We're seeking people who can bring warmth, resilience, and calm professionalism to every situation.
What You'll Be Doing
* Provide 1:1 and occasional group support
* Assist with daily living tasks including cleaning, cooking, laundry, and meal preparation
* Support personal care and independent living skills (where required)
* Assist with medication administration (where required)
* Encourage and support community, social, and recreational engagement
* Support emotional regulation and meaningful daily routines
* Promote independence, choice, dignity, and wellbeing
* Build respectful, empowering relationships with participants
* Manage behaviours of concern with empathy, patience, and steady composure
* Advocate for participant goals and communicate clearly with the wider support team
* Maintain a safe, inclusive, and professional environment at all times
About You
* A genuine passion for helping others and making a real difference
* Patient, reliable, proactive, and emotionally aware
* Confident, calm, and professional under pressure
* Excellent English communication skills
* Naturally positive, encouraging, and respectful
Skills & Experience
* At least 1 year of experience supporting people with ASD, Intellectual Disability, BPD, Depression, or Anxiety (preferred)
* Experience in disability, community, or mental health support is highly regarded, but not essential
* Ability to manage behaviours of concern with empathy and professionalism
Requirements
* Valid Australian work rights
* Driver's licence and reliable car (essential)
* Current First Aid & CPR certificates (or willingness to obtain)
* NDIS Worker Screening Check
* Working With Children Check
* Police Check (must be obtained prior to commencement)
