Location Profile

Neerim District Secondary College is a small rural school of 240 students, situated in the picturesque town of Neerim South at the foot of the Baw Baw ranges. The school offers our students and staff an attractive, settled, and inclusive environment with spacious grounds.

Our vision is to empower our students to become the best version of themselves.

Our school is a community that cares for and respects one another. We pride ourselves on our staff working as a cohesive unit to support students and families to achieve their goals.

Our values developed by students, staff, and the community include:
- Community - We have a strong sense of belonging to the school community and welcome everyone.
- Respect - We have due regard for the feelings, wishes, and/or rights of others.
- Perseverance - We admire and encourage others to continue to persevere in spite of barriers.
- Leadership - We strongly encourage students to undertake leadership roles but also to take on leadership behaviours.

We offer a strong Year 7-10 Curriculum based on the Victorian Curriculum with a wide range of performing and visual arts, and design technology classes, available to students in the junior and middle years. Our Year 9 students spend one-fifth of their year participating in an applied learning inquiry-based program designed to support the development of students' interpersonal, problem-solving, critical thinking, and creative thinking skills.

Students in Years 10-12 have access to a broad range of VCE subjects offered through on-site face-to-face classes and blended delivery methods. We also offer a strong VCE-Vocational Major (VM) program at Years 10-12. Students completing VCE-VM are supported to enrol in a VET Certificate with external providers and complete Structured Workplace Learning one day per week.

Through the work of passionate and dedicated Student Wellbeing and Student Inclusion Teams, our school provides meaningful interventions and supports that ensure we meet all students individual learning and wellbeing needs.

Neerim District Secondary College receives strong and ongoing support from the Neerim South community and students are regularly involved in volunteering and supporting local community events. Our school is a destination school with increasing enrolments, supportive parents and families, and a motivated and progressive team of staff.
