Technical Planning Manager - Collins Class Submarines
Based in Rockingham, Western Australia, the Technical Planning Manager is responsible for leading the development, integration, and control of complex submarine maintenance schedules aligned to program strategy, contractual obligations, and delivery milestones. The role strengthens local capability by managing emergent corrective maintenance activities, technical readiness and strong stakeholder relationships.
Key Activities and Responsibilities
* Driving process improvements to enhance safety, efficiency, and reliability across technical operations.
* Ownership and optimisation of Primavera P6 schedules, ensuring compliance with governance frameworks and reporting standards.
* Providing early warning and strategic insight to programme leadership, supporting mitigation and recovery planning.
* Managing budgets, forecasting, and commercial performance.
* Working with engineering and technicians to prioritise tasks, resolve issues, and ensure maintenance activities align with program requirements.
* Coordinating with the IPT team and monitoring configuration change process compliance.
* Building and maintaining effective working relationships with local customer representatives to support responsive issue resolution and transparent communication.
* Identifying, implementing and coordinating technical training strategies aligned with contracted delivery requirements.
* Maintaining Training Needs Analysis (TNA) and site training matrices.
* Overseeing competency management processes.
Key Knowledge and Experience
* Cert IV Engineering (Maintenance) or relevant technical/tertiary qualifications or equivalent work experience.
* Minimum 8 years proven experience in technical maintenance management/planning or similar roles, preferably within Defence, Manufacturing or related industry.
* Highly organised, solution‐focused thinker who performs well under pressure and thrives in dynamic environments.
* Proven experience managing budgets, forecasting and performance monitoring.
* Strong experience in a field service, maintenance or technical service environment.
* Experience working with CMMS platforms such as SIMS, SAP or similar desirable.
* Experience working in the Defence Maritime Sector desirable.
