**About the School**:
Toowoomba State High School is a secondary school with 850 students from a wide range of backgrounds. The school has a proud history of high academic attainment. **Responsibilities include**:
We require a Guidance Officer to work as part of the support team while also being able to work independently to deliver high quality guidance services. An applicant with a working knowledge of Senior Secondary schooling experience would be highly favourable.
**Additionally**:
- Experience supporting students from diverse backgrounds including EALD/refugee students
- Complex case management processes
- Communication, self-direction and leadership skills
- Ability to work independently and as well as part of a team
**Mandatory requirements**: The role of the Guidance Officer includes the following mandatory requirements:
- Current FULL registration as a teacher in Queensland
**AND one of the following**:
- Completed coursework Master, majoring in Guidance and Counselling, or an equivalent Masters, including study in the areas of psychoeducational assessment, counselling and mental health
OR
- Full registration as a psychologist through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) Psychology Board or a fourth year qualification in psychology that will enable general registration as a psychologist through the AHPRA Psychology Board following completion of the board approved internship or accredited sequence of study.
OR
- Qualifications relevant to the role, which in the opinion of the Director-General of the department are acceptable.
Applicants must have completed their qualifications by September 1, 2024 in line with the mandatory requirements of the Guidance Officer position.
