Web Site : www.mdc.wa.edu.au.Type : Part-Time Term : TemporaryPosition DetailsTeacher AssistantMater Dei College has the opportunity for a part-time, temporary Teacher Assistant to become an integral part of the College’s Learning Support Department, joining us Semester 2, 2025 until 31st December 2025.This position has a high possibility of an extension.We are seeking a vibrant, passionate, friendly, and confident individual who is committed to creating a welcoming and positive learning environment for students who need extra assistance.The Teacher Assistant will be in attendance 3 days per week, 8:30am to 3:30pm for 40 weeks per year.The Teacher Assistant will be responsible for a variety of tasks that are inclusive of, but not limited to:Assisting with the implementation, development and delivery of teaching programs and lesson plansProviding individualised help to students requiring assistance to deliver high-quality student-focused learningHelping manage student behaviour by reinforcing classroom rules and providing positive reinforcementMonitoring students during various activities outside of the classroom including recess, lunch, sports, camps and excursions to ensure their safety and wellbeingSupporting the teacher with the implementation of Individualised Education Plans, Curriculum Adjustment Plans and Behaviour Management PlansSelection CriteriaThe successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a high level of professionalism whilst supporting the Catholic ethos and values of the College.A high level of organisational and time management skills are also required for the role.The successful applicant will also demonstrate the ability to practice patience towards students who may need extra time or assistance, along with the ability to demonstrate empathy and flexibility amongst various situations.Demonstrated experience in a previous Teacher Assistant role will be viewed favourably.Qualifications RequiredTerms of EmploymentHold a current Working with Children Check (WWC)Hold a current National Police Clearance from the Department of EducationAnnually complete the online Child Protection Procedures and Mandatory Reporting TrainingHold or be working towards an Accreditation to Work in a Catholic SchoolHigh DesirableExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsExcellent organisational and time management skillsProven ability to work well independently as well as in a groupProven ability to be flexible and confident in different situations and to provide assistance across a variety of tasksComputer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft OfficeFor further information please visit the College website: https://mdc.wa.edu.au/discover-mater-dei/employment/Catholic Education Western Australia encourages applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with a disability, people of all ages and people from culturally diverse backgrounds.
