Brief
I'm a quadriplegic (due to a spinal cord injury) living in Shoalwater and looking for an additional support worker.
I'll need you for:
Wednesday morning and a Saturday or Sunday morning (6:30-9:30am) and potentially evenings (9:*****:30pm with 2hr pay, days flexible) for assistance with daily activities including personal care
Assistance with recreational activities such as kayaking, swimming and surfing (usually Saturdays or Sundays if the weather is good)
You can expect around 5-10hrs per week, depending on what we agree to.
You'll receive above award rates ($40+ on weekdays, and more on weekends and public holidays).
Qualifications and Requirements
Certification or experience in manual handling and support work is very helpful but is not required.
Training will be provided by me and my other support workers.
You must:
Live close to Shoalwater/Rockingham
Have a driver's licence and car
Have some flexibility to cover shifts when other support workers can't make it (especially mornings)
Job Description
In the mornings (usually 6:30am start for minimum of 2hrs), I need assistance with personal care and other activities of daily living, which usually includes:
Transfers in and out of bed or chair (using a hoist and/or by slide transfer)
Showering
Toileting: bowel and urinary care (using suppositories and a catheter)
Dressing
Getting breakfast ready
Assistance with exercises
In the evenings (usually 9:*****:30pm) I need assistance with transferring into bed (with 2hrs pay).
Beyond this, I may require assistance (usually weekends) with other activities like swimming, kayaking, sailing, surfing and transport to appointments.
About Me
I'm a 31 year old guy living in Shoalwater.
I became a quadriplegic (level C5 complete) after breaking my neck in shallow water when I was 19 doing watersports.
