Position Summary The Dentist is responsible for delivering high-quality, ethical and patient-centred dental care in alignment with SmileCo Dental’s clinical philosophy, values and standards. The role focuses on accurate diagnosis, comprehensive treatment planning, excellent patient experience, clinical compliance and contribution to a collaborative and professional practice environment.

Job Responsibility Clinical Diagnosis and Treatment Conduct comprehensive dental examinations and diagnose oral health conditions accurately and ethically.
Develop and present ideal treatment plans, clearly explaining options, risks, benefits and costs.
Deliver high-quality dental treatment with a strong focus on patient comfort, safety and clinical outcomes.
Manage emergency appointments appropriately, prioritising pain relief and immediate care.
Ensure appointments are managed efficiently and run to time.
Patient Care and Experience Build trusting, professional relationships with patients.
Communicate clearly, empathetically and confidently to reduce anxiety and support informed decision‑making.
Educate patients on oral hygiene, preventative care and ongoing maintenance.
Promote comprehensive dentistry and active maintenance programs.
Encourage referrals where appropriate through excellent patient outcomes and experience.
Clinical Records and Administration Maintain accurate, timely and compliant clinical records in accordance with SmileCo Dental requirements.
Use dental and practice management software effectively and efficiently.
Ensure documentation meets legal, professional and practice standards.
Infection Control and Equipment Care Comply with all infection control protocols, ADA guidelines and relevant regulatory requirements.
Maintain cleanliness and readiness of the surgery and equipment.
Identify equipment issues promptly and elevate for repair or maintenance as required.
Professional Development Maintain current AHPRA registration and professional indemnity.
Participate in continuing professional development and ongoing skills development.
Accept feedback constructively and implement agreed improvements.
Practice within scope of competence and training at all times.
Teamwork and Collaboration Work collaboratively with Dental Assistants, Clinical Coordinator, Treatment Coordinator and Practice Manager.
Participate actively in team meetings, huddles and clinical discussions.
Contribute positively to team culture and support a respectful, professional workplace.
Work collaboratively and respectfully with reception team by using white slips to effectively communicate patient and clinic billing and continued patient care.
Work Health and Safety and Privacy Comply with all WHS, privacy and confidentiality obligations.
Identify and report hazards, incidents or risks promptly.
