Rebus Theatre – Canberra, ACT
Rebus Theatre is an award-winning inclusive theatre company using performance and the arts to provoke social change, foster healing, and create a more compassionate and accessible society. Based on Ngunnawal and Ngambri Country, Rebus collaborates with communities across the ACT, regional NSW, and East Gippsland, Victoria. Since 2013 Rebus has created innovative theatre with people who have experienced marginalisation, centring access, inclusion, and creativity in everything we do.
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled
Company Manager
to support the CEO/Artistic Director and ensure smooth coordination across Rebus' operations, productions and governance. This is a pivotal leadership role, bridging creative projects and organisational systems, and helping us deliver high-quality performances, community programs, and workplace training initiatives.
The role is offered as a
fixed-term contract for 12 months (extension dependent on funding)
.
Key Responsibilities
Lead organisational coordination and staff management, fostering a collaborative and inclusive workplace.
Provide high-level production management across projects and performances, ensuring delivery on time and within budget.
Support governance, compliance, and risk management processes with the CEO and Board.
Contribute to strategic development, funding applications and grant reporting, and business planning.
Monitor finances and operational systems in collaboration with the Finance Manager.
Selection Criteria
Essential
At least three years' management or coordination experience in the arts or community sector.
Strong production management skills, ideally within a small to medium arts organisation.
Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, reporting and compliance.
Experience supervising staff or contractors and fostering positive workplace culture.
Excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
Commitment to inclusion, equity, and the role of the arts in creating social change.
Proficiency with IT systems, including Microsoft 365.
Desirable
Experience working with boards, funding bodies, and/or governance processes.
Knowledge of HR, risk management or WHS compliance standards.
Familiarity with applied theatre or community arts practice.
Conditions
Fixed term: 12 months (extension subject to funding).
30–38 hours per week (negotiable).
Hourly rate: Base rate of $ per hour, plus superannuation and salary packaging benefits.
Four weeks annual leave + paid Christmas shutdown.
Relocation support ($1,000) available for interstate candidates.
