The primary purpose of the Quality Officer is to contribute to the maintenance of the Forensic Science quality management system.
The purpose of the system is to ensure:
the confidence of our clients and the community in the reliability of forensic science work undertaken on their behalf,
compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements,
continuous improvement.
The position contributes to the delivery of a high-quality forensic examination service to the justice system of South Australia.
About the Business
Forensic Science SA (FSSA) provides a comprehensive, coordinated range of services to agencies associated with the justice system including the State Coroner, South Australia Police (SAPOL), the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) and defence and civil litigants.
We are part of the Attorney General's Department and the Director, FSSA reports to the Executive Director, Finance, People & Performance.
Within FSSA there are four scientific/medico-legal operational areas: Pathology, Chemistry, Biology and Toxicology, each analysing materials using a diverse range of scientific equipment and processes.
The operational areas are supported by Administration, Information Technology and Projects, Science Support and Quality, who each provide underpinning services in support of the operational areas.

Responsibilities
Contribute to the maintenance of the Forensic Science quality management system.
Support compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements and drive continuous improvement within FSSA.
Contribute to delivering a high-quality forensic examination service to the justice system of South Australia.
Special Conditions for Employment
Employment is dependent upon a National Police Certificate clearance that the AGD finds satisfactory.
Successful applicants will be provided further information if an interview is requested.
Forms are not to be lodged directly with SAPOL under any circumstances and any fees incurred by applicants in doing so will not be recoverable from the AGD.
Employment-related Screening Check required.
A Science Degree in a relevant field is required.
