**About the role**

In this six month contract, as the Manager Health Safety and Wellbeing, you will lead the City of Greater Geelong Health, Safety & Wellbeing functions with the responsibility for managing strategic direction, governance and legal responsibilities affecting the City in these areas. In this role, you will shape the strategic direction of the City's approach to Health, Safety & Wellbeing and will be seen internally and externally as a leader in health and safety culture as well as a technical expert.

You will focus on making the physical and psychological safety of our people your highest priority in all decisions you make on behalf of the City.

Key responsibilities include:

- Design and drive the implementation of the City's Health, Safety and Wellbeing plan as a subset of the City's People & Culture Strategy.
- Partner with other People & Culture Centres of Excellence including Diversity & Inclusion, Talent, Capability & Employee Experience, Change & Communications, Health Safety & Wellbeing, People Shared Services Centre and Organisation Design to ensure alignment of purpose and integrated organisational outcomes
- Contract with People & Culture Business Partners to consult to the business on and execute the Health, Safety and Wellbeing plan
- Work collaboratively with the Executive Leadership Team to implement a Health, Wellbeing and Safety Governance Framework within the City
- Lead the develop and implementation of business relevant systems to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and provide leadership in preparation of audits.
- Lead the development and implementation of an organisation specific risk management framework which incorporates all physical and psychological risks associated with our business
- Provide advice, guidance and support to the injury management operations, premium reviews and act as the liaison officer for our WorkCover Agent.
- Provide advice, guidance and support to the general insurance and claims operations, conduct regular service reviews and act as the liaison officer for our insurance matters to various stakeholders.

**About you**

To be successful in this role, you will have relevant formal qualifications and substantial experience in a similar leadership role managing both workers compensation and injury management.

Essential Experience:

- Extensive experience in designing, implementing and embedding OHS best practice strategies and frameworks in a complex and diverse organisation based on AS/NZS ISO 4801.
- Demonstrated success in the development of OHS management programs and activities.
- Minimum of two years' experience in managing insurance policies or working as an insurance advisor.
- Highly developed project management skills.
- Extensive experience in managing a diverse team in a dynamic work environment.
- Demonstrated problem solving and leadership qualities to lead a team to succeed within a complex and rapidly challenging environment.
- An in-depth knowledge of contemporary safety and risk management approaches.
