* Base salary will be in the range $93,491.78 - $100,296.97 + 17% Superannuation (HEW Level 6)

About This Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for a Research Engineer (Software/DevOps) to work closely with our team to develop platforms and frameworks for scientific applications deployment, advanced interactive analysis and data capture and movement. This position will be responsible for developing and enhancing the Neurodesk.org, Sciget.org and Australian Imaging Service platforms. Work will include enabling Kubernetes deployments, developing GitOps solutions, the integration of different storage endpoints using the Container Storage Interfaces, implementing efficient monitoring of the various deployments using Grafana and Prometheus and the autoscaling of compute nodes for CPU and GPU workloads across various cloud providers.

Key responsibilities will include:

* Developing JupyterHub and SCIGET platform deployment workflows using container orchestration tools such as Helm, Kustomize and Kubernetes API
* Integrating storage endpoints using the Kubernetes Container Storage Interface
* Implementing monitoring solutions such as Grafana or Prometheus
* Developing GitOps deployment strategies to manage the continuous delivery of the software
* Automating infrastructure deployment and scaling using tools such as Ansible and Terraform
* Setting up autoscaling of compute nodes for CPU and GPU workloads for cloud providers such as AWS, OpenShift and OpenStack
* Building containers using technologies including Docker, Podman and Singularity/Apptainer

About You

* Degree qualification in IT or related field with at least three (3) years subsequent relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
* Knowledge of Linux and Linux container technology (e.g. Docker, Podman, Singularity/Apptainer)
* Experience in Kubernetes and developing microservices
* Experience in monitoring microservice architectures (e.g. Prometheus, Grafana)
* Experience with the concept of Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Ansible, Terraform)
* Experience with GitOps (e.g. Flux, Argo)
* Experience in cyber security best practices for cloud infrastructure
* Proficient understanding of code versioning tools (e.g. Git, GitHub)

The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including: right to work in Australia, criminal check, education check etc.
