DA ORAZIO PASTICCERIA is seeking a Full Time Pastry Chef

Title of position: Sous Pastry Chef

Job Type: Full-time

Salary or salary range: $80,000 – $90,000 + Super

Location: 192-200 Euston Rd, Alexandria NSW 2015

Da Orazio Pasticceria is a vibrant boutique Italian pastry shop located in the heart of Alexandria. We specialise in handcrafted pastries, artisan desserts and premium baked goods, all made with the finest ingredients from both Australia and Italy. Our creative touch is renowned as is evident in our beautifully crafted sweets, warm hospitality and strong local following. Key responsibilities include:

- Passion for preparing and cooking quality fresh food.
- Experience working in a high-volume kitchen.
- Experience with pastry is essential.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work under pressure.
- A self-motivated team player with a desire to develop your career as a pastry chef and as a team leader.
- Willingness to learn and strive in a fast-paced environment.

Daily Tasks Description:

- Preparing and cooking necessary ingredients and assisting in all sections of the kitchen at the direction of the Owner, General Manager and the Head Pastry Chef.
- Complying with all company policies, procedures and all statutory regulations and food hygiene practices.
- Checking the cleanliness of equipment and operation of premises before production runs to ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.
- Checking the quality of raw materials and weighing ingredients.
- Kneading, maturing, cutting, moulding, mixing, shaping dough and pastry goods
- Monitoring oven temperatures and product appearance to determine baking times
- coordinating the forming, loading, baking, unloading, de-panning and cooling of batches of bread, rolls and pastry products
- Glazing buns and pastries, and decorating cakes with cream and icing
- Operating machines which roll and mould dough and cut biscuits

Skills & Experience required:

- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience or a Diploma in Commercial Cookery.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, high volume kitchen environment.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work under pressure.
- Motivated team player with a genuine passion for food and hospitality.
- Eagerness to learn and grow within a supportive team.
