About the Role
As an Irrigation Fitter/Trainee, you'll play an essential role in keeping our parks, open spaces, and community facilities safe, vibrant, and well-maintained.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Conducting routine maintenance and repairs of irrigation systems.
* Conducting inspections and testing on commercial irrigation systems.
* Programming irrigation controllers to meet operational requirements.
* Modifying current irrigation systems/install new irrigation systems.
* Operating small plant/equipment.
* Maintaining tools, equipment and plant.
* Exercise duty of care in line with City Work Heath and Safety policies.
* Liaise/work with supervisors and other City service units.
About You
We're looking for someone practical, proactive, and passionate about working outdoors and contributing to the community. You'll enjoy being part of a busy team and be open to learning and developing your skills in one of the fastest growing local governments in Australia.
To be successful, you'll need:
* Basic knowledge or experience in Irrigation, Horticulture or parks maintenance.
* The ability to balance study and on-the-job training
* Strong teamwork and communication skills.
* A positive, can-do attitude and willingness to adapt to change.
* Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
* Capacity for manual outdoor labour.
* A valid C-class driver's licence.
* A Construction Safety Awareness Card (White Card).
* An understanding of workplace safety, hazard identification, and safe work practices.
