About the role
A high-performing iron ore operation in the WA Goldfields is seeking an experienced Open Pit Mining Supervisor to lead production crews in a busy, safety-critical environment. This is a hands-on leadership role overseeing day-to-day pit activities across excavation and load & haul, with strong collaboration across planning, geology, and processing. Gold experience will also be considered where the candidate has strong hard rock open pit supervision capability.
Key responsibilities
* Lead and motivate production crews, reinforcing safe behaviours and strong operational discipline
* Supervise open pit activities including excavation, hauling, dumping, and material handling in hard rock conditions
* Coordinate with mine planning/engineering to execute daily and weekly plans and optimise mining sequence
* Monitor operating performance (tonnes, cycle times, delays) and drive continuous improvement
* Ensure equipment availability through effective prioritisation, defect management and coordination with maintenance
* Support ore quality outcomes through clear communication with geology and processing/ROM teams
* Maintain accurate records: production figures, shift reports, incidents and corrective actions
* Conduct field leadership activities including inspections, pre-starts and safety interactions
* Respond to incidents and emergencies calmly and effectively, following site response procedures
* Coach and develop operators and leading hands, supporting upskilling and performance improvement
What you'll bring
* Proven experience as an Open Pit Mining Supervisor (minimum 3 years in a supervisory role)
* Strong background supervising excavators and haul trucks in hard rock open pit operations
* Confident leadership style with the ability to drive accountability and positive culture
* Strong knowledge of mine site safety systems, risk management and operational compliance
* Operational understanding of production planning, quality control and cross-department coordination
* Excellent communication, problem solving and decision-making under pressure
* Ability to work day/night rosters and maintain calm, consistent leadership during high-tempo shifts
