About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Disability Services Officer to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with individuals with disabilities, their families, and healthcare professionals to provide personalized support and assistance.
Key Responsibilities:
* Providing personal care assistance, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
* Assisting with household chores, meal preparation, and grocery shopping.
* Offering social and emotional support, including companionship and encouragement to participate in social activities.
* Accompanying or driving clients to appointments, activities, and outings.
* Promoting independence by encouraging life skills development, supporting personal goals, and enhancing self-confidence.
* Maintaining accurate records and communicating effectively with family members and healthcare professionals.
* Ensuring client rights and dignity are respected, supporting client autonomy and preferences.
Requirements:
* Certificate IV or higher in Disability Support, Community Services, and Social Work, or related fields.
* Minimum 1 year of experience as a Disability Services Officer.
* Experience working with ASD (autism spectrum disorder) participants.
* Knowledge of local Indigenous cultures and issues facing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families.
