Our client is looking for an experienced Freelance Creative / Design Manager to support their creative team during a key period of transition. This is a critical interim cover role focused on managing design workflow, overseeing creative output, and stabilizing team operations across retail, digital, and campaign channels.
Working closely with the Creative Director, you will oversee a small, talented design team (Senior and Mid-weight) to ensure projects are delivered efficiently, on time, and to an exceptional brand standard.
Key Responsibilities
* Workflow Management: Manage day-to-day operations, allocate projects, set priorities, and ensure realistic timelines across multiple deliverables.
* Creative & Brand Oversight: Ensure all output aligns with brand direction; review and provide feedback on design work across POS, retail, campaign, and digital.
* Production & Delivery: Oversee the delivery of key bi-monthly retail campaign cycles and manage project timelines for accurate rollouts.
* Stakeholder Liaison: Act as the key point of contact between creative, marketing, and VM teams, translating briefs and managing feedback loops.
* Operational Support: Identify workflow improvements, coordinate freelance resources where needed, and support the Creative Director in daily operations.
Skills & Experience
* 8+ years of experience in graphic design or creative production within fashion, retail, or lifestyle brands.
* Leadership: Previous experience managing or mentoring creative teams is essential.
* Retail Savvy: A strong understanding of retail creative, POS, campaign, and digital asset production.
* Highly Organized: Excellent project and timeline management skills with the ability to handle a fast-paced environment.
* Communication: Confident in managing multiple stakeholders and translating complex briefs into actionable tasks.
This is a 3-month freelance contract starting on March 31st. The role is based in Geelong three days per week, offering a great balance with two days of remote work. It is a fantastic opportunity to lead a high-performing team within a world-class retail environment while they review their long-term structure.
